4 Spring & Summer Home Improvement Projects
Our long winter is finally over! Now’s the time for warmer-weather projects! Need a little motivation or… inspiration… on where to get started? We’ve compiled a list of the best spring and summer home improvement projects to keep you busy this summer!
1.) New Siding – This is one that we’re working on over at my house right now! All that old siding is almost completely torn off, with new vinyl siding to follow! Get your siding inspected and see if it’s time for an update. There are many options for beautiful, high performance and energy efficient vinyl siding. New siding greatly increases the curb appeal of your home and adds to the energy efficiency of it.
2.) Build a Deck – This is also a personal “to-do” at our home. Decks are great places for outdoor socializing and dining. They’re a great place to soak up the sun or relax outside and enjoy the fleeting summers. Decks can be built in all kinds of sizes and with maintenance free/low maintenance materials too.
3.) Update or Add Rain Gutters – Water can be a dangerous thing for our homes’ foundations. Without gutters, rain could erode the soil around the foundation of our home and leak into the basement, causing damage inside the house. This can be avoided by use of a gutter system.
4.) Repair the Roof – Depending on where you live, late summer or early fall are good times to repair your roof. Spring would be a good alternative. Obviously, a roof in good condition is an important thing for any home to have. So if your roof has taken a good beating, is curling or peeling, it’s time to do something about it.
5.) Get your Air Conditioner Inspected – Air Conditioners are needed when it gets nice and hot in the summer time, so make sure it’s inspected and in good working order in the spring, before it gets too hot. Besides keeping us cool and comfortable in the hot days of summer, an Air Conditioner also dehumidifies your home and prevents mold from developing within the walls. So there are 2 great reasons right there for inspection that Air Conditioner of yours. 😉
6.) Add an Enclosed Porch – Create a 3 or 4 Season Living Space Addition to your home with energy efficient windows to be able to enjoy the sun all year round. J
7.) Install Skylights – Skylights will add more natural light to your home – who doesn’t love that? Doing this on your own can be tricky, so you might wanna call a contractor for this one!
8.) New or Updated Kitchen Cabinets – If it’s time for a complete overhaul in your kitchen, get in touch with a contractor to install brand-spankin’ new cabinets in your home! (Unless you’re the type talented enough to make and install your own, I know a few people like that!) If your kitchen just needs a little updating, paint your cabinets, add new knobs, or install crown molding to your cabinets for a fresh and updated look.
9.) New Mailbox – This is such a simple little thing, and yet it can make such a big difference in your home’s sidewalk appeal! Find something that matches and compliments the style of your home and already you make an impact right there!
There ya have it! What are you waiting for? We just gave you a LIST of things to work on this spring! Get crackin’!
