This crisis is tragic, but we do not do despair at Collectively Growing. We are aware that grief is self explanatory. Instead, we turn our heartbreak into effective actions.

  • You are giving $344,787.69 into RAICES (Refugee and Immigrant Center for Education and Legal Services), the greatest immigration legal services provider in Texas. In just the first half of June — at one court alone — RAICES understands of 184 parents who have been separated from their kids (along with the 200 separated families they were already aware of) — a rate that will last. They have. Through RAICES, your funds will provide family reunification for 2,000 families by financing Family Reunification Legal Assistant, Family Reunification Staff Attorney, and a fresh Family Reunification Supervising Attorney. You’re also paying for 2 children’s staff lawyers who will offer full legal representation for 100 unaccompanied children who have been discharged from detention, along with other associated costs.
  • You’re giving $125,000 to Safe Passage Project — a legal advocacy organization for unrepresented kids facing deportation. As kids form lines facing the courthouse, stepping into face deportation hearings alone, advocates from Safe Passage Project step into to ensure that they are represented. Your money will provide a lawyer and part-time paralegal so more of those children won’t be alone.
  • You are committing $200,000 to KIND (Kids In Need of Defense), a nationwide organization that trains attorneys to represent immigrant children free of charge in relation with their immigration and deportation proceeding. During KIND, you 33 pro bono training demonstrations to train skilled lawyers to represent children and reunify them and are financing a staff attorney expert in child protection legislation to help the pro bono attorneys, a social services coordinator.

We are updating you on the next wave of giving where Together Growing is placing your funds to work with appreciate warrior boots on the ground, so you know:
Let’s hold on this non-negotiable: Babies shouldn’t be torn in their parents’ arms. GIVE HERE TO SAY: NOT THIS.
BECOME ONE OF THE HELPERS. We understand immigration is complex and we state: NOT THIS.

In 9 hours, 1 Million Dollars were increased by you.
In complete, you increased $1,500,000.

Last week, we told you about our very first round of committing , in which we funded the Florence Immigrant and Refugee Rights Project for an angel group of four lawyers and 3 legal assistants to represent children detained in Arizona detention centers and their families; and the Young Center for Immigrant Children’s Rights so as to cover the expenses of a lawyer and social worker who is operating around the country and on the border to give advocacy and healing to unaccompanied, detained children.
We came together in a Together Love Flash Mob to help capture babies — who had been ripped from their families back into their parents’ arms.
